Black Friday / Cyber Week 2016

Black Friday Shopping

This now infamous day was once only something our neighbours across the Atlantic went wild for. Black Friday takes place every year on the day after Thanksgiving. A day where stores put on discounts or special offers. I learnt of the phenomenon through my addiction to good-bad TV. Extreme Couponing showed folk sleeping out in the cold to be first in line when the stores opened. There was actual stampedes and serious tactics used all to bag a good deal. In the past few years, the craze arrived on our shores. After seeing how much of a success it was more and more stores began getting involved. Black Friday now goes on ’til Tuesday with the inclusion of ‘Cyber Monday’. It is perfect timing with December only days away. So many bargains and deals, you could get your Christmas shopping done and dusted. With all you save, it would be rude to not treat yourself.

With the growing popularity of Black Friday , some stores have chosen not to hold out and start the discounts now. Way to beat the competition. It does beg the question though as to when is the best time to shop then? Having a plan and doing your research into the stuff you want will get you the best savings. Another way to cash in on the sales is to take advantage of the low sterling rate. By shopping online in pounds you could potentially save a tonne all with thanks to Brexit. There is a full post on it here with more info and tips. Beat the queues by bagging a bargain online. Stores become a cross between a jungle and a battle field. Customers too in their drones will be in the way and fighting for that last bargain.

It is really easy to get carried away with sales though. I always try to remind myself that it is only really a good deal if you think you will genuinely wear or use the item a lot. It might be worth checking out my online shopping tips and tricks post before diving in. A good P.O.A is the best form of attack. There is a lot to be said for doing your research before checking out. For the likes of branded products like electrical appliances and cosmetics, browse a couple of sites and note the price on each. You will have all the info then to decide what is the best deal. Often stores can make offers look better than they actually are by hiking up the price pre-sale only to reduce it back down. It is easy to be lead into thinking you are nabbing a bargain when in fact you aren’t saving much at all.
