I cannot believe it is July already. Bang smack in the middle of Summer, well in some countries. It is time to look back on what i have been wearing and loving the past two months. My fashion favourites from May and June gone by. Every time i go to put together these posts i’m like this one is going to be the most boring yet but i really believe that this time. I feel like I’ve done nothing but watch Love Island in my pj’s, for the past month anyways.
With regards to May i was away in the sun so everything i wore was very Summery. A very last minute put together holiday wardrobe i must say. I shared some of the outfits that i wore here including a little collaboration with Penneys here. So what else have i been loving and wearing?
River Island Boho Top
I have been wearing this top A LOT the last few weeks. It is just so easy to throw on and so easy to wear. The comfort is second to none. Soft, flowy fabric that is light enough for the slight Summer we are graced with but still covered. This top was one of the pieces i shot for the V By Very Curve Launch collab with Littlewoods Ireland. It’s from the River Island plus range which is one of many plus brands that LWI stock. I styled it here with softest dark denim and the shoes of the season – mules. This would be an easy way to wear this for drinks or dinner. I have since paired this with cropped jeans and gladiator sandals but also black jeans and boots. When i went away on holidays i took this with me and it was a great piece to have.
When i went away on holidays i took this with me and it was a great piece to have. Taking up zero space and no need for an iron thanks to the cheesecloth type fabric. I used this as an easy cover-up over my swimwear. Paired with a denim skirt and flip-flops for a no fuss chilled evening. I will continue to wear this for as long as i can. While the detail is really pretty, the red really pops against the white. The elasticated waist is flattering while the hemline is long enough to cover the backside and crotch. A great Summer top that really has that relaxed boho vibe. Although my one was from the plus range it is also available in the main range. It looks to have sold through but if i can find it elsewhere i will link it here.
Mid Heel Lace Up Sandals
I was only delighted when i spied these beautys were being stocked in our faves Penneys. They were exactly what i had on my Summer widh list after missing out on the Style River Island ran last Summer. The mid heel height is just perfect for holidays and i mean in general as i just am not able for serious heels anymore. Lace up details can add a lot to an outfit. They really add some interest. I like the variety they bring in the ways you can choose to tie them. Go as high up your calf as you like or double up around the ankle.
I nabbed the black cause obvs but out of the remaining colours this stunning blue caught my eye. The amount of compliments i got on this was unreal. I’m still getting messages about them now. I picked these as part of my collaboration post with Penneys. I showed them styled with a matchy matchy blue striped dress as seen below.
You may be lucky enough to still be able to nab a pair in your local Penneys but they did seem to fly out. There are some similar styles available from a few different places that might work for you. If i had my way i’d have them all! The comfort is next level and ideal for cobble stones and the likes. Here are some alternatives online now here , here and here.
Red Gingham Dress
Ok so yes i am STILL banging on about those €8 bardot dresses from Penneys. I had first expressed my love for the affordable little Summer dresses a couple of months back in a post that you can see here. With several prints and colour ways to choose from all in my absolute favourite off the shoulder cut. Loose , light and comfy. I featured the black version in my last favourites now that i think about it. Shortly after returning from holidays i picked up the red option too. Gingham exploded over the Spring Summer season and was so popular. It still is and i cannot get enough of it. Red is also a colour that i am having a serious love affair with at the moment. A colour that i know suits my skin tone but that i used to only be drawn to in the Winter months. You can see by my Instagram and my holiday wardrobe posts that it’s a shade that has dominated for me in Summer too.
The first outting for this gingham number was on one of the few sunny days we have been dealt as Summer in Ireland. I was in the Seafield Hotel in Wexford celebrating Fathers Day and wore this travelling down. Super comfy and light. I paired the dress with some fresh converse type runners. Again comfort was key. I trew on my denim jacket as it got cooler in the evening for a stroll. You can see another way to wear this guna below with a khaki jacket and boots that would be cool for a festival look.
I litterally have no idea how i haven’t featured this one as a favourite by now. Also i have no idea how i haven’t had to have it surgically removed from my back yet. This is a piece that has taken center stage in my wardrobe on the daily. I was lucky enough to pick an outfit to wear to the Littlewoods V By Very SS17 launch a couple of months back. Initially i had this jacket paired with a fringed skirt as my look of choice. At the last minute i got worried about how well the skirt would suit my shape and had to quickly change my choices. I couldn’t stop thinking of the jacket though , it was so me. When i got to the event none other than Pipsy Pie herself, Pippa O ‘ Connor had the very jacket on. I can think of worse people to be dressed the same as. Long story short the guys at LWI are too generous and i got the jacket a few days later. It’s hardly left me since.
Understandably this has been a really popular piece. Infact there has been several occassions where Kellie and i have stood at the school gates in our matching khaki jackets like some sort of secret gang lol. Again i can think of worse peeps to be dressed the same as. My best friend has since purchased it too. I did advise her not to size up as you might with a jacket because this one does run quite oversized. It has a very relaxed, cool fit.
Styling wise i have worn this baby several ways. Mainly with a stripe tee, cropped jeans and Superstars admittedly on the regular. I also sported the khaki wonder with a midi skirt and boots when i went to see Bruno Mars recently. It was as easy to dress up as it is to chuck on day to day. For me this would be a perfect festival jacket styled over a light dress and some boots. Khaki and camo jackets are just effortlessy cool and don’t really date. They give off that real vintage or retro vibe. All in all a great jacket with lots of personality. Easy to chuck on for those in between days. I will be wearing this one for a long time to come.
That’s it for now. I hope you enjoy looking back as much as i do. It’s a great way to remind myself of things that worked or think of other ways to style pieces hidden in the back of the wardrobe. If you want to catch up on previous favourites post you can see them linked below. July/August won’t be long coming round. Tell me what have been your fashion favourites these last few months?
* I am lucky enough to be sent/gifted items from brands. This does in no way influence my thoughts or decisions. All opinions are my own. Any clothes i receive i choose myself and am very grateful. I only share things i really love.
