Recently i was asked on the new Instagram Stories Questions feature , what where my wardrobe staples? Without hesitation i answered with jackets. I included and extended that heading to biker , denim and khaki jackets. There is something so effortless yet cool about a khaki or camo print jacket. Retro , edgy but extremely wearable. The ideal option for festival season in my opinion layered over a little dress and some boots. Also fitting for an All Saints tribute band?
I’ve a few different styles in my wardrobe and i’ve seen lots of options available that i thought this warrents a post. I did mention my V By Very Camo jacket in my latest Fashion Favourites post which you can see here. But being so fab they do deserve their own post. Looking at some different ways to wear khaki jackets including military , utility and camoflague styles. These can come in jackets , shackets (shirt jacket) , waistcoat or actual coat. Year in year out this colour palette and print reign supreme with the ultimate laid back vibe. A seasonless piece too as most are lightweight enough for Summer but can be layered up for the old months. I like to pop a hoody under mine for cozy casual days. There are also , bombers , parkas and macs that i could include but that is for another day.
You may remember another khaki V By Very number that i LIVED in last year. I still wear it now. This style had funky badges adorning the khaki fabric and big utility pockets. For those who are not into full on camo mode.
Styling wise i have worn this baby several different ways. Mainly day to day with a tee, jeans or leggings and runners as standard. Admittedly on the regular. I have also sported the khaki wonder with a midi skirt and boots when i went to see Bruno Mars. It was as easy to dress up as it is to chuck on day to day. A cool option to finish a concert look. Khaki jackets don’t really date either. The proof is in the vintage numbers you can found out there. All in all a great jacket to have in your wardrobe with lots of personality. Easy to chuck on for those in between days. I know that i will be wearing these types for a long time to come.
Khaki / Camo Sleeveless Jackets
While i am here , i think that khaki and camo waistcoats should get a mention too. Same idea applies but there is some more from for styling potential too. Layer over your leather or denim jacket in the colder months for a two-toned, multi textured look. In the warmer months fling over a tee or pretty dress to add another element. I have several styles of these in my wardrobe and they get pulled out each year. If this was something you fancied popping into rotation you could easily cut the sleeves off an old or cheaper find.
There you have it. A long standing staple in my wardrobe that i don’t feel will be going anywhere soon. How do you feel about khaki jackets ?
