In honour of the legend that is Kat Slater’s return to Eastenders i wore this leopard print dress to the V by Very SS18 show last month. I’m all about current affairs me lol. I had originally ordered this wrap style lovely for a family night out that shock horror i didn’t make. When the event invite popped up in my inbox i was like hummm. I went off in search online and was coming across a lot of leopard print dresses. That settled that. I did feel it was a very thrown together look in the end though and i could of styled it better. Hindsight is a great thing. It was such an awful night in Dublin, the rain was torrential and i was having one of those days where anything that can go wrong, will. I had two or three ideas of how to wear the dress but the rush resulted in this. So i guess i will just have to wear it again.
I pinned the bust for the event as it was an early evening thing plus travelling it wouldn’t be appropriate or comfy to leave my chest totally exposed. That simple thing alone can change the look of the dress. Adding a belt too will do just that. For evening wear the plunging neckline left open with some stack necklaces would look really beautiful. A lacey bralet underneath would look really pretty too. I mentioned above thst i had invisioned other ways to wear this dress and one was to add a biker jacket over the top and roll up the sleeves. Toughen it up a little and finish with a red lip. As i needed my big coat i had to, pardon the pun , take a raincheck on the leather jacket. You can see how different the dress looks below dressed up.
I think leopard can often be perseived as tacky. The print has a reputation for being loud and a little OTT. Personally i think this is all down to styling, the colour of the print and the fabric of the item. For example wearing in a dressed down way will tone down the print and give it the right sort of edge. Wrap dress styles seem to be very popular in leopard and that shape is both classic and flattering so a good way to go. By keeping accessories neautral and luxe you will keep the outfit looking more expensive. I really liked both the colour and size of the print in the dress i wore. It doesn’t scream cheap to me. This pattern can also be worn in the warmer months despite having more of an Autumn Winter connection.

I will be definetly be trying to style this dress a few more ways. I’d love a leopard print maxi for Marrakech too. It’s such a classic print that really doesn’t date much and can be lots of fun. Are you a leopard lover?
