No amount of moping around and sulking is going to bring summer back so i might as well embrace the cards we have be dealt right. One thing i do love about A/W fashion is how rich and luxurious it is. From decedent prints to opulent fabrics, the whole feel is very regal . A really easy way to achieve this look is to play with texture. Mixing up different textures really add some dimension and interest to an outfit making it look more expensive. Heavier Winter materials are just synonymous with this feel. Lace , velvet , leathers , Suede , faux fur and jacquard are key fabrics to try if you want to explore this more. I went with a velvet number to kick of tonight’s look of the day.
Style inspiration for Autumn Winter dressing
A dress that has kept the shape of the Summer alive but transitioned it well into Autumn / Winter with the help of the fabric. A super flattering silhouette and cut as i never tire of saying. Beautiful bardot cut shoulders with a pretty flow on the sleeve. You are getting a two for one with the addition of the neck tie. There are several ways to wear this but personally i would tie this like a choker and let the length hang down the back. Alternatively swap it for your own and really mix it up. The colour of the dress is absolutely stunning and looks so good in the velvet. Again a very rich tone that is perfect for keeping some colour in your Winter wardrobe.
In keeping with the flow i want to build on the dress with the accessories. I added a leopard print clutch in a faux fur. The print compliments the colour of the dress really well and only adds to the luxe feel. Animal print is very prominent this season and can be easily added to a look as a statement accessory. A simple but rich pair of black gem stud earrings is all that is needed here. No need to overload the look as the fabrics and prints are doing all of the work. Finishing off this look with a vamp heel in classic black. The pointed toe shoe takes nothing away from the outfit. Instead the black ties in well with the undertones of the bag and jewellery.
I can also see this dress working really well with some statement boots. A snake print or embroidered pair would look so cool against the rich berry colour. Add on some warmth with a leather jacket or a fluffy faux fur to really nail the look. To conclude a great dress that is easy to way , has lots of styling potential and looks way more than it’s asking price. What do you think?
