Is it official? Has Spring Sprung? It is definitely trying to anyways. This is one of those transitional times of year when we aren’t too sure what to be wearing. Our screens , feeds and the shops alike are all showing the way forward into Spring Summer styles while our weather apps and senses are saying otherwise. Yes i am aware i ramble on about the weather, like a lot. Come on, it kind of goes hand in hand with fashion. It most certainly plays a part in what we wear daily, even dictates at times. This time of year is famous for Spring cleans and revamping the wardrobe. Adding in some transitional pieces to see us through the change in season but most importantly work for us into the season ahead. I am delighted to be collaborating with Nasty Gal and creating a little plus early Spring edit of what is available online right now. I have posted about NG before you can see it here. As always i don’t like to exclude so i shall add some regular styles in too. Let’s go.
Nasty Gal Plus Spring 2020
I couldn’t resist. Simple as. Not for everyone and i totally get that but i thought it was a bit of tongue and cheek. My love of statement bags isn’t new and has been well documented. Rude slogan aside, it’s a nice bag. It has structure and can be worn several ways with the chain strap or by the handle itself. Besides that it can be worn backwards as a crossbody bag so you cannot read the text. You will see it worn some of these ways in the looks below. As i am writing this the bag has sold out, which i am not suprised about. I have linked it though incase it is restocked. I’ve linked some other fab options below.
Midaxis have overtaken midi’s ya hear me. Not quite a midi, not quite a maxi but oh so good. Chuck on with a pair of tough boots or your fave runners, converse for me. This dress was a different material in real life than i thought but in a good way. I got the impression it was a basic cotton type of fabric but it is more of a crepe look and feel. Slightly dressier, that bit something more. I size up as standard on Nasty Gal but this has a very relaxed fit as is. No zipclosure but no elastic either. It’s not rrally needed. I’m just over 5ft4 for length reference so it falls to more of an inbetween length on me. I love the little sleeves, very on trend but in a veey wearable way. The print is a joyus welcome to these dreery days. How nice is that pink?
Can you even with these boots? Are they a serious statement or what? Don’t answer that. I know right! I’ve a lot of black boots in my wardrobe but these i just couldn’t resist. I think you can see why. So much detail for such an affordable price. If these boots where from other brands i could see them costing so much more. From the patent croc finish, the stud trim, the chains and the luxe ribbon laces. Imagine these come festival season! So cool. They fit perfect in a 7 on me and i’m a wideeee 6. You might have seen me wearing them with a polka dot midaxi dress that i shared on Instagram. A shorter shirt dress too. Day to day with the plainer of leggings and jeans too to add something. They are quite wearable day to day considering they are very statement.

Plus Size Hoodies
Hoodies have been building up in my wardrobe of late. Not anything new but i needed some new. see what i did there? Beyond comfy and cosy, so easy to throw on. That is my aim for the majority of clothing. With the rise of street style and athleisure moving past a trend, we are seeing what where once basic hoodies making their way to the top pages on Instagram. They are being styled in a new and interesting way which i am very much here for. It’s like how it is now acceptable to wear runners pretty much daily, we have added leggings and hoodies too. Joggers are also a new addition too. Back to hoodies though, i would usually stick to black or maybe a solid red. The black hoodie i had in my wardrobe was looking a bit washed out in colour and wasn’t as long as i needed. These options i found on Nasty Gal were longline and actually described as dresses so i knew i was onto what i looking for. The perfect length for with leggings, so that no parts resembling animals feet are seen. I nabbed the black as basic, too handy to have and goes with lots. The cream was something never to me but i had plans for it as i liked the idea of the colour against leather. I was planning on wearing it with the hood out over a leather jacket or shirt. The fit is over-sized and the fabric is heavy in quality but light enough that you could layer without overheating. The lower pockets where something new to me and take some getting used to but how bad.
In Cream too…
Floral Wrap Dress
Next up is a super handy transitional dress. What i mean by this is that it works through the seasons and for those times between the season when you aren’t sure what works. The black background works for colder months and makes it easy to pair with tights. Then the colouring in the print brings some much needed light colour. A classic wrap silhouette without the fuss of having to tie the dress. The faux wrap makes it easy to just slip over your head. There are no zips just an elasticated wait and sleeve. We like this. It falls at a decent length for a shorter dress, not too short. The neckline isn’t too deep either. I could see this being a great dress for work too, one you wouldn’t mind wearing. Quite figure friendly
This next accessory won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but i thought it was fun. I do enjoy a statement accessory, something different. This utility belt ties in with the current street style trend. Functional too really if you think about it. Come festival season these belts would look really cool but also leave your hands free. You can actually remove or re-arrange the tabs on the belt as you which. I think i will take the largest pocket off which would fit your phone, and make it less fussy. It goes well with the cream hoodie here but there are way more options in ways to wear.
Polka Dot Mesh Dress
Finishing up with a slightly different take on polka dots which are big again this season. Now that i look at it the styling it does look a bit 60’s with the hairband and holding the bag by it’s handle. How bad? Another dress from the Nasty Gal plus range that i think you will agree is fashionable but also very wearable which is a hard balance for most brands putting out plus ranges.
This is a well made dress both fabric wise and with regards to dressing curves. A lot of mesh styles can look slightly cheap but the material here is thicker and from what i can see better quality. The slip underneath is seperate so you could mix it up easily. For festivals or the daring you could wear shorts and a bandeau or bralet underneath instead. It is more of a mini dress if you have been graced with height. Wear over jeans or leather leggings too with just a cami underneath. Wearable with or without tights. I trialled the dress with some patterened tights but plain opagues will work perfect too. Being black there are lots of options and potential.
