It’s that time again mmwaaaaha-ha-haaaaw. Halloween is just around the corner in case the incessant amount of bangers and fireworks haven’t given it away. I am legit jumping out of my skin twelve times a day. The big dilemma as always is – what to dress up as? Pretty Little Thing asked me to put together some Halloween costumes using pieces from their site that you can actually wear again. When i say wear again i mean regularly and not as fancy dress. Pieces that will serve you instead of just take up room in your wardrobe. Enter Pretty Little Thing plus Halloween costumes.
PLT X HALLOWEEN
Halloween has never been so popular. There is more and more choice than ever. It can be an expensive time though for something that will never see the light of day again. Not to mention if you are in anyway curvy, you will struggle to get well fitting costumes. I have put together some plus size costumes that are really easy , affordable , not a waste and actually quite nice. Make-up and accessories will take them to the next level. A far cry from your ma throwing a black bag over your head and out you go days.
Halloween Costumes You Will Actually Wear Again
The Halloween section on PLT has a great variety of options. From accessories to all out fancy dress. I had my work cut out deciding what to go with there was that much choice. All with main pieces that will continue to be part of your wardrobe. The pieces i am wearing are obviously plus size but i have tried my best to link some other options in more sizes. You can shop the whole Halloween section here. Sort your costume this year from the comfort of your own home, hassle and stress free. Have you ever been in a fancy dress shop Halloween week? That shiz could be corporal punishment. PLT also offer next day delivery for any last minute costumes needs. I have the unlimited next day which is only €9.99 for a whole year. Two orders and your money is made back. Life saver.
Kicking things off with a real classic Halloween character. A scary but not scary choice that is seriously easy to do. PLT actually had so many pieces that could be used to make the base of this one. I will add them below for more size and style options. It is basically just a black and white stripe suit with a tie. The rest is hair and make-up. I have never met a stripe i didn’t like so this blazer will 100% be worn again. I am going to try belt it as a dress too. It is something that shouldn’t date either. I bloody forgot my dad’s tie that i had borrowed to finish off the luck. Raging. You can go as wild as you like with the green hair spray or crazy colour for this one. The same can be said for the make-up. I just sized up in the blazer and pinned it closed. I’ve shorts on underneath for modesty but you could do a cute slip and bralet too.
This one has been popular the last few years with the rise of interest in make-up and sfx. A doll has always been an easy costume to throw together last minute. Pretty dress and some pigtails are really all it takes. Using make-up to draw on cracks ups the antsy and gives the markings of a broken doll. The dress i will wear again with white boots and a denim jacket maybe. Giving the print you could also do a low key Queen Of Hearts costume.
I know it’s not very original and it’s been done like a million times BUT a devil is an old reliable. Right up there with a Witch. You can really sass this one up and as, dare i say, sexy as you like. As easy as something red and some devil horns. Add in a cape, pitchfork and tail if you like. I’ve chosen this red wrap dress as the base for the look. A super flattering shape and fit. I have no doubt that this dress would fit in well in almost any wardrobe. The silly season is almost upon us and having a dress like this is very handy. Lots of wear to be had of festive red.
Next up is a choice that has been one of my firm favourites things to be the past few Halloweens. I have become a little obsessed with The Day Of The Dead theme. It is just so beautiful and colourful which leaves lots of room to get creative with costumes. As i suck at make-up i went for a mourning / jilted bride inspired by this genre. The accessories really make it and tie it all together. I started with a slinky black dress that is destined to be worn again during the silly season. You could of course opt for a red or white dress for this one too. The sky really is the limit.
I fell for the headpiece on this one when i first saw it and thought that would be a really cool but pretty idea. Initially i thought green for the base as it is the colour that comes to mind when you think of snakes. Because i wanted to use a piece that i would wear again i started to widen my search. Snake print is huge right now , as it has been all Summer. What better way to do Medusa then with actual snake print. As i have said this trend is huge and something i would actually wear. Again cut in a really flattering shape so it will be so easy to wear going forward. You could use black , green or gold really for this one. Be creative and have some fun.
During my search for pieces to use in this post i came across some other things that i think would work well as costumes. Again easy and almost guaranteed to be worn again.
Lastly here are some accessories that are available. Some really simple bits like headpieces that you can pop on and get in the spirit or use to finish off your costume.
There we have it. I hope you guys enjoyed reading it as much as i enjoyed putting it together. Also that it serves as costume inspiration especially for the curvy girls. Let me know what is your favourite costume and how you would wear it again?
Happy Halloween xoxo
Pretty Little Thing provided the pieces for this collaboration. This is no way influences my decisions or opinions. I only share things that i really love.
