Rose print has been popping up more and more everywhere of late. Moving on nicely from the rock ‘ n ‘ roll movement that has been dominating the style scene of late. Just in time for Val / Gal Day. First we had embroidered patches and details that roses where a really popular choice for. Then came the band tees – think Guns And Roses. I started to see some more feminine pieces with an all over floral print and thought this was worthy of a little spotlight. There are plenty of styles and choice available in the shops at the moment in all sorts of colours and fabrics. I concentrated on the black and red colourway though with a glam rock edge because that is a bit of me. Oh and btw the title is an ode to my mother – her karaoke song lol.
Here below are some looks made up of roses a plenty. Some in full bloom (get it) and some more subtle.
To kick things off is this all over print midi dress from New Look. A beautiful shape – very 70’s so that is the direction i went with the styling of this look. Layering a faux fur gilet on top and adding a black boot. A long pendant ties it all in together. The dress would look equally as beautiful with heels and a statement necklace for an event or night out.
This next one is not only one of the most affordable but one of the quickest and simplest ways to acheive this look. Adding a choker takes seconds but instantly brings the outfit together. The print is really rich and will look so good with this off the shoulder top. An easy one to throw on for a last minute night out with your favourite heels.
We couldn’t do roses and not get a bit grungy. A mesh tee with the symbol patched on does that very well. A little bralet underneath adds another level but you could go with a cami or vest too. Leather was the only way to go then with a classic wardrobe staple. The open boot adds more interest but is still in keeping with the style. Tights and a biker or doc martin boot would be cool too. Finished off with a red lip. One for a concert i feel.
A look for twirling in next. For the ladies with the curves. This skirt is available in black if the red is too daring paired with the bold print. The shirt is super wearable for day or night and has the cold shoulder detail that i love. Tucking it into a skirt like this and adding some jewellery will make for a great occasion look. Keeping the shoes and bag a simple black so not to cause any more fuss.
I adore this next look. Very understated while still having lots of detail. The dress itself is a beaut with the very on trend ruffle. It looks great paired with the statement boots that bring the rose motif to the outfit. Finished off with some jazzy earrings for some balance. An easy way to get on board with any trend like this is by starting with an accessory. These boots would look just as well with some jeans or an LBD.
Lastly , this little gem from Penneys which no doubt everyone and their nanny will have, but you can kinda see why. An absolute steal at that price and a very flattering fit. The wrap style tea dress is becoming more and more prominent in stores as Spring approaches. There are several ways you could wear this dress and a very affordable option if you are looking to get in on the rose action.
