Jetting off to the sun is my absolute favourite thing to do. You cannot beat the feeling of the sun on your shoulders and the sand between your toes. Summer is my favourite season and i adore dressing for it. The planning that goes into my holiday wardrobe is something else. I love putting together outfit possibilities, making lists of things i want need or want to try out together. Usually i start picking up bits by the week and putting them away that way you don’t feel it as much. Especially with swimwear and flip-flops etc. Those fly out. Come August you can struggle to find the most basic of sun shop pieces. I say usually cause this year was a little different.
I am sick to death of sweating trying to close my suitcase because i have packed way too much. This is closely followed by the anxiety the scales at the airport check-in desk brings. You then have to kill yourself lifting said bulging case in and out of taxis, up onto scales and off the baggage carousel. A broken back for things i probably won’t wear. In fact i know i won’t wear it unless i change 5 or 6 times a day. The more choice to have the harder it can be to decide what to wear too. I can’t believe i’m saying this. Who am i?
In the past i have survived trips with only hand luggage and did fine so i thought i would try adopt more of this mentality. Quality over quantity. Only bring pieces i loved and fit well. What is the point of having all of this stuff with me if i’m not really happy with it. Some really pretty, comfy day to night dresses that i can dress up with heels for dinner or pop on gladiator sandals and a hat for a stroll under the sun. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you might have seen a few of these looks but i wanted to share them all in one place. There are a few different angles and detail shots too.
The guys at Littlewoods Ireland being as fab as always let me pick two looks for my holidays. This is the first of the two and now a firm favourite of mine. I was so thankful of these pieces as they really served me well day and night. The material feels fab on and doesn’t wrinkle at all. I got two wears of this red number over the fortnight. The cut out detail on the arm suits me to the ground and the elasticated waist makes for a flattering fit. Paired here with some fringe and stud lace-ups also from the V by Very brand.
That shoulder detail is right up my street! A seriously flattering cut and shape with colours that really pop. Again the fabric is wrinkle free making this an ideal day to night sundress. Exactly what i wanted. That is a winner in my eyes!
The second of my day to night holiday looks that i chose from V By Very is quite similar in ways to the first. Both are made from this comfy fabric that just doesn’t wrinkle so it travels really well. The cut-out shoulder detail, again is perfect for me. The loose swing style is ideal for keeping cool while exploring by day paired with sandals and some statement shades. I also wore this dress out for dinner but belted at the waist with heels. The choker detail is on point creating interest in a day dress but dressy enough for evening wear too. The black base of the print makes this a good choice for most seasons. Wear into A/W with some tights and boots.
This next one is pretty standard me. Tucking a slogan tee into a skirt is one of my go to styles again and again. The same can be said for toughening up a pretty floral print. These red font tees having been gaining popularity and are very retro. I thought the red would tie in nicely with the skirt. Probably could have went for the black in this bag here but hey ho go hard and all that. I have to say that i lived in these shoes! Easy And Comfy. You can see the blue version i wore too here.
My holiday wardrobe was very red and i’m ok with that. A happy accident. This ASOS skirt being one of the stand out pieces. Ruffles and an A-Symmetric hem a double whammy. The anything goes trend of hemlines has been very dominant this season and is a really fun trend. I wore it with a slogan tee tucked in and a black halter top with bardot sleeves as a dressier option.
This light bohemian top from the RI Plus range has been a handy cover up whilst in the sun. Great to throw on with some denim shorts too for a comfy, laid back look. I love the little tie detail it really pops against the white fabric. Really light and flowy. Perfect for nailing that boho style.
My full swimwear post is coming up, it’s something i always get asked about. For me swim skirts and dresses are the most flattering on my figure and give me a little leg up on confidence. This striking red swim dress is a show stopper. The skirt provides cover to areas you might deem as your ‘problem areas’ and gives you confidence. The cut on the neckline is super flattering and the gold hardware detail gives a luxe finish. A floppy hat and glasses finish off the touch of old Hollywood glamour poolside. Loved having my own Baywatch moment.

Another Day Another Cover-up. White is an obvious choice for holidays being bright, fresh and looks so good against bronzed skin. This oversize tunic was really comfy and easy to throw on over my bikini. I loved that it had these little sleeves and the frill hem really added something. I wore this quite a lot and had it in my beach bag most days. It could easily be belted if you don’t like the fit of it on. The sandals added a pop of colour and interest in my day looks. Really pretty and the white will glow on tanned feet. The pom pom trim is bang on trend and perfect for summer. Finished off with these statement shades. I’m definitely a sunglasses girl. I’ve been longing for a marble pair after the sold out Quay Australia ones. Delighted with this pair and the lenses are reflective.

I wore this dress travelling and it was so comfortable. I washed it and wore it again to go out in the evening with a tassel belt and lace up heels. This dress fit right into my wear things a few ways idea and ticked the day to night box too. There was another colour option but i prefered the dark base. The halter style is one i am really liking. It is surprisingly flattering on. This picture doesn’t show the dress at all. I blame the excitement and wanting an ‘Arty’ snap for Instagram. Click on the link for a better look. I think this dress would be cool for festivals over the summer months.
This is the most me beach bag I’ve seen in a long time. Straw bags are huge for summer. Like massive. They instantly give off that summer vibe. The white leather fringing makes it really different though, kinda edgy and cool. The suds really finish it off. I tied a little bandanna around the handle as i do with most bags to give it a personal touch. A very roomy bag that i used travelling too. A great size for throwing in all the essentials. Here it is sat in prime position on my amazing round towel. i must admit that i am missing this set up (sadface).

I HAD to get this round towel when i saw it in Penneys. Not only cause 🍉’s are my thing but i’d wanted a circle towel ages. These fab holiday essentials have been huge on instagram. Great for picnics too. The towel itself is really big and cosy as well as making for some cute snaps. I nabbed these glasses without hesitation. The remind me of the Designer Celine style that was really popular last year. Standard comfy pool flip-flops that you cannot go wrong with for a euro. Lastly , I was delighted to add in these bikini tops to my swimmers for holidays. I am a big fan of mix and match swimwear. They go up to a very generous size 18 for those with a larger chest. The string can be loosened to make more coverage on the bust as a bandeau too. Super affordable and some fab colours too. The paisley print will look so good with against a tan.
That is pretty much all that i have to show you…for now. I am already planning what to wear on my next trip. There are some more looks and pieces in my Penneys collaboration post that you can see here. Hopefully this might have given you some holiday inspiration. Are you going anywhere nice this summer?
